Dick Marx was an American jazz pianist, arranger, and composer.

Dick was the son of Helen and Victor Emanuel Marx. He had three children from his first marriage; and a son, adult contemporary and pop rock singer and songwriter Richard Marx, with his second wife Ruth Jeannette Guildoo.

Dick’s paternal grandfather was Emanuel Marx (the son of Mayer/Meyer Marx and Fanny Reinhard). Emanuel was a German Jewish emigrant, from Frankfurt.

Dick’s paternal grandmother was named Agnes Isaacs (the daughter of Joseph Isaacs and Annetta, likely Weis). Agnes was born in New York. Joseph was a Jewish emigrant from England. Annetta was an American, who was also Jewish.

Dick’s maternal grandfather was named Adolf Golden. Adolf was a Ukrainian Jewish emigrant, from Kiev.
